Dental X-Rays in Shrewsbury

At Shrewsbury Dental Associates, Dr. Kaplan and Dr.Krishnan use dental X-rays to help diagnose and plan treatment. These images allow our team to see what's happening beneath the surface of your smile, helping identify issues early before they become bigger problems.

Why Are Dental X-Rays Needed?

A visual exam alone can't always tell the full story of your smile. X-rays allow our team to identify issues that aren't visible to the naked eye, including:

    • Tooth decay beneath the surface
    • Infections at the root of a tooth
    • Bone loss
    • Impacted wisdom teeth

For younger patients, X-rays also help us monitor the development of permanent teeth as they grow in.

When Would I Need a Dental X-Ray?

We recommend dental X-rays to most of our patients. They only use a very small amount of radiation. Before any X-rays are taken, our team will review your medical history to ensure it's theright fit for you or your child.

What to Expect During the X-Ray Process

A lead apron is placed over your midsection for added protection. A small, comfortable device is then placed in the mouth, and our X-ray machine captures an image. This process is repeated for each area being imaged.

Once complete, Dr. Kaplan or Dr.Krishnan will review your X-rays with you and use them to help guide your personalized treatment plan. We typically recommend that X-rays be taken regularly at routine visits to stay ahead of potential concerns.
